In a few words...

This former post office had the opportunity to receive in residence monks from the Benedictine abbey during their expulsion in 1880. Its facilities followed the needs of the time: stables, a garage for horse-drawn carriages, petrol distribution with the arrival of the car... The villagers were not forgotten: a butcher's shop, a bakery and a café were proposed.

In 1960, Marie-Louise and Raymond Jaquet arrived in Solesmes and became true "aubergistes". The simple quality of the table, the "modernised" equipment of the rooms and above all the warm welcome worked wonders.

In 1969, their son Bertrand added another dimension to the cuisine and at the same time boosted the growing reputation of the establishment. At the same time Michèle, who was to become his wife, accelerated the family business. The Grand Hôtel de Solesmes became a regional reference.
